Varaita Valley, in the presence of the Stone King

A hike that will take us to a little-visited corner of the Varaita Valley, which on clear days offers priceless views of Monviso. We will reach Colle Cervetto and Monte Riba del Gias as we cross forests and grazing plains that are beginning to prepare for the long alpine winter.

Excursion details:

- Route: Mount Riba del Gias

- Departure and return: Ruà (Becetto - Sampeyre)

- Height difference: about 750 m

- Difficulty: E

- Meet: 9:30 a.m. at Becetto

- Return to cars: 4 p.m. approx.

Materials needed: hiking boots, poles (recommended), layered clothing (T-shirt, fleece, windbreaker, long pants, light gloves, beanie), water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, packed lunch
