In the Valley of the Stone King: hike to the oldest refuge

June 14

Po Valley, the oldest refuge

We will walk a loop in the wild and secluded Vallone di Oncino, which, in addition to offering a spectacular view of Monviso, is home to the oldest Refuge of the Club AlpinoItaliano, the Alpetto Refuge, which over time has been renovated but still preserves the original structure, now used as a museum. It will also be an opportunity to think together about what refuges represent today and how hospitality in high-altitude facilities has changed over time.
