July 5-6 - The Forms of Water (Val d'Ayas - AO)

The shapes of water (Val d'Ayas - AO)

July 5-6

The shapes of water (Ayas Valley).

Val d'Ayas is the valley in Valle d'Aosta that will host us during these two days, and it is a valley full of beauty, stories and contrasts. It is the valley of ski lifts, of great winter and summer tourism, but it is also the valley of the famous novel byPaolo Cognetti, of ancient refuges such as Mezzalama, of wild corners where man can arrive yes, but only on foot.

We will explore a small part of it, chasing itrents on foot until we reach the lakes from which they start, and chasing the origin of all that water with our gaze: the glaciers of Monte Rosa.

Day 1: Traveling upward

During the first day we will take a truealtitudinal journey, which will allow us to observe the changes in the landscape and the life forms that inhabit and shape it as we ascend in elevation.

We will leave from the village of Saint-Jaques and reach the immense pastures of Pian di Verraz surrounded by green larch forests.Continuing to climb we will reach the Blue Lake, a mirror of aquaturchese on the slopes of the great glacial moraines (enormous reliefs of crushed rock, a sign of the presence of ancient glaciers) that only at a superficial glance appear lifeless. In front of us, imposing, acomplete the journey, the glaciers of Monte Rosa.

We will spend the night in the village of Résy, at 2066 m altitude, in the cozy Rifugio Ferraro.
